La Masseria Lamafico � una masseria da campo fortificata, completata nella sua attuale conformazione nel 1826. Essa consiste di un grande quadrilatero con ampia corte lastricata interna, un monumentale pozzo centrale,vari agrumeti interni, garitta di avvistamento, grandi locali per uso agricolo, strutture abitative al primo piano, chiesetta privata aperta al pubblico locale, grande aia esterna lastricata, diversi pozzi di raccolta acqua, un abbeveratoio monumentale per animali. Gli accessi importanti sono due, uno dal lato monte e l`altro dal lato mare, serviti da strade non asfaltate.

Essa si trova nel territorio di Polignano a Mare, ed � posta sulle prime alture che dominano la marina con vista panoramica sul mare. E` raggiungibile da Polignano a Mare prendendo la strada per Conversano. All`incrocio con semaforo nella localit� Baracca girare a sinistra e seguire la strada interna in direzione Sud verso Monopoli per un kilometro circa. Incorporando una chiesetta entro le sue mura, la masseria � facilmente avvistabile sulla sinistra appena prima di oltrepassare il ponte sulla lama da cui prende il nome.
E` l`unica lama del territorio di Polignano a Mare lasciata ancora intatta, con macchia mediterranea e boschetti di querce. Antistanti alla masseria dal lato mare, per una ventina di ettari, vi sono solo terreni costituiti da uliveti storici e seminativi.
La masseria � sottoposta al vincolo architettonico su proposta della Soprintendenza per i Beni Architettonici della Puglia,quale importante esempio di architettura rurale fortificata del XIX secolo in Polignano a Mare.
Il fabbricato della masseria � diviso in due propriet�, distinte da un muro che attraversando la corte interna genera una parte con accesso lato monte (Sud-Ovest) e una parte con accesso lato mare (Nord-Est).

Masseria lamafico (general description)

Masseria Lamafico is a fortified farm built on a pre-existing rural manufact and completed in the year 1826, located right on the edge of a ravine (lama) from which it takes its name in view of the abundance of fig (fico) trees. It is quadrangular in shape with four straight and tall defensive walls each 70 meters long approximately. The living quarter on two levels is set on the north east corner, while all along the inner sides of the four walls there are farming facilities and orange gardens in sequence. A large square courtyard is set at the center, where water collection is served by a huge well mounted by a roof (giostra) on four pillars. The main entrance at the center of the South-West wall is structured as an arched passageway, and a similar secondary entrance does allow access through the North-East wall. All rooms have barrel vaulted ceilings, walls are built in tuff blocks, and floorings are made of local traditional stone tiles (chianche).
Since the first half of the XX century, the courtyard has been divided in two parts by a brick wall along the line of separation of two distinct properties, each served by its own independent entrance to the premises. At the present time these two properties are represented by the members of two distinct families.
This masseria has been declared an important manufact of fortified rural achitecture from the XIX century in Polignano a Mare, and as such is subject to a special supervision by the Ministero per i Beni e le Attivit� Culturale.
Apart of the lama itself with its uniquely still intact mediterranean bush (macchia mediterranea), the landscape toward the marina offers a panoramic view over open fields with centuries old olive trees as well as almond trees and grass fields. In the background the sea view spans all the way along the coastline between Polignano a Mare, Monopoli and beyond.

5. Un grande piazzale esterno al fabbricato, con aia lastricata, tre pozzi di acqua piovana, di cui uno con abbeveratoio monumentale per animali.
6. Un terreno suddiviso in: uliveto, mandorleto, seminativo, e orti.
Nota:
Le masserie pugliesi in offerta di vendita sul mercato immobiliare sono occasioni rare, e questa propriet� immobiliare � parte di un edificio da tutti definito `la masseria pi� bella di Polignano`, da cui prende nome tutta la contrada. Messrs. Angiulli`s lot rests on the East side of the masseria with its unbroken view of the sea and the coastline between Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. Its buildings with the courtyard and the enclosed orange garden cover an area of almost 800 square meters. The agricultural land in front of it covers an area of 3.3 hectares approximately. It comprises:
1. A living quarters sector on two levels. Two storage rooms make the ground floor. An easy staircase made with traditional stone tiles leads to the first floor, which comprises four rooms plus kitchen and bathroom. A balcony and two terraces, one of which is provided with a characteristic sentinel turret, have open views to the sea. Another similar staircase leads to the roof terrace which offers a stunning panoramic view of the surroundings and of the sea. 2. A second quarter made of farming facilities comprises stables, deposits, large traditional oven, its own rain water collection well, and accessible large terraces. It covers and area of 123 square meters, and it is provided whith building permits for restoration.
3. A large courtyard in stone flooring which covers and area of 269 square meters.
4. An orange garden 140 square meters large, which is enclosed and protected by high walls on all sides.
5. A large external yard of 2123 square meters in front of the entrance, partly made of stone flooring and including a sector with original stone flooring (aia) for harvest of grains, plus two wells, the bigger one being furnished with a water drinking facility for animals, covered by a roof with two arched ceilings. Another rain water collection well is positioned in a garden next to the wall of the masseria.
6. An agricultural land area made of olive orchards, as well as almonds, figs and open pastures and gardens.
Note:
This is a rare opportunity for buyers who are interested in the purchase of a vintage masseria pugliese, as the Angiulli`s lot is part of a building which everybody considers to be `the most beautiful masseria in Polignano a Mare`. Its name commands the whole local rural neighborhood (contrada Lamafico). This lot is the best side of Masseria Lamafico because, apart of the panoramic view over the sea coastline, it offers an ample view over land still left intact with its centuries old olive orchards, with almonds, figs and other fruit bearing trees, including spots of original mediterranean flora (macchia mediterranea) sitting next to the traditional stone enclosures (muretti a secco) which elsewhere are disappearing year after year.
